Every few months we get the same question in our inbox: what’s new downtown? So we’re keeping a running list for 2026. Bookmark this one. We’ll update it as things open.

The Silos (now open)

Depot Street’s old grain silos are no longer just a photo backdrop. The Oak & Rye team out of Los Gatos took the site and built a speakeasy-style restaurant with a cocktail program that rivals anything in San Jose. Reservations on weekends are tight. Go on a Tuesday if you want the bar.

The Breakfast Club (now open)

A straightforward all-day breakfast spot that fills a gap we’ve been complaining about for two years. The biscuits-and-gravy plate is the order. Cash-friendly, fast, kid-tolerant.

Chocotella (now open)

Dessert cafe on Monterey with crepes, gelato, and hot chocolate that does not mess around. Great after-dinner move with kids, or a solid after-school bribe.

Mad Pizza World (now open)

Fast-casual pizza by the slice, New York-leaning crust. The pepperoni is the one. It’s a weekday lunch spot more than a dinner destination.

Coming in 2027: The MOHI

The biggest news: The MOHI, a mixed-use boutique hotel at 17490 Monterey Road, is scheduled to open in 2027 with three restaurants — a steakhouse, a raw bar, and a rooftop pool bar. We wrote a full breakdown of the MOHI project here.

What we’re watching

The old Sam’s BBQ site on Monterey has been quiet, but we’ve heard rumors. We’ll update when anything’s official. Same for the space next to The Silos — there’s a build-out happening but no signage yet.
