Morgan Hill's holiday season kicks off with the Holiday Lights Parade and tree lighting on Monterey Road. December 5, 2026. Here's the guide.

The parade Floats, marching bands, classic cars, community groups, and a whole lot of lights. The parade runs along Monterey Road through downtown. Kids lose their minds. Adults remember why they moved to a small town.

The tree lighting Right after the parade, the downtown Christmas tree gets lit. Expect a short program, a countdown, and collective gasps when the lights come on. It's corny. It's also the good kind of corny.

Shop small downtown Most downtown retailers stay open late on parade night. If you're trying to do your Christmas shopping local this year, this is the night. Bonus: a real shopping bag beats another Amazon box.

Restaurant options Downtown restaurants typically run holiday menus and specials during the parade weekend. Reservations book up fast — call a few days ahead if you want a sit-down dinner after the parade.

Parking Monterey Road closes for the parade. Park on side streets east or west of Monterey and walk in. Arrive 45 minutes early if you want a decent spot along the parade route.

What to bring - Layers. December evenings in Morgan Hill can be cool. - Cash for vendors. Expect hot chocolate, holiday treats, and other food trucks. - Camera. The floats are worth it. - A kid, borrowed if necessary. It makes the whole thing better.

Why we love this one It's the best small-town holiday tradition in Santa Clara County. Everyone shows up. Nobody's on their phone. The lights go on and for 30 seconds the whole downtown is quiet together.
