The Gilroy Garlic Festival is back for 2026. Here’s the full guide: dates, tickets, what’s new, and how to actually get in without losing your whole Saturday to traffic.
Dates and location
July 24–26, 2026. Hecker Pass Outdoor Events Center, Gilroy. The festival moved from its legacy Christmas Hill Park home a few years ago, and the Hecker Pass site has become the permanent home.
What to eat
The classics are back: calamari, garlic fries, pepper steak sandwiches, garlic ice cream (which is better than it sounds), and the full Gourmet Alley rotation. Vendors are mostly nonprofits and local groups, which means your food dollars do double duty — the festival has raised millions for Gilroy charities over its history.
Tickets
Buy in advance. In-person ticket lines at the gate can be long. Single-day, three-day, and VIP options are typically available through the official site. Kids 6 and under are usually free.
Parking and shuttles
Shuttles run from satellite parking lots. This is the move. Driving into Hecker Pass on a Saturday at noon is a bad time. Park at a satellite lot, ride the shuttle, skip the stress. The festival site posts shuttle locations closer to the date.
What’s new for 2026
Songwriter event at Clos LaChance. A ticketed, smaller-format show featuring songwriters in the round at the Clos LaChance tasting room. Good date-night alternative to the main festival day.
- Golf classic. A pre-festival charity golf tournament that’s become its own annual event.
- Updated vendor layout at Hecker Pass after last year’s operational lessons.
Our take
The festival is not the same festival it was 30 years ago. That’s OK. It’s still the defining annual event for Gilroy, it still raises real money for local nonprofits, and it’s still worth going at least once every few years if you live here. Go Friday night if you want lighter crowds. Saturday is the big day. Sunday is more mellow.
