Morgan Hill goes big for the Fourth of July. Freedom Fest 2026 is the city's full multi-day patriotic celebration — parade, carnival, music, and fireworks. Here's the locals' guide.
The schedule Freedom Fest events typically spread across July 3 and July 4. The Patriotic Sing is the opener. The parade runs on the Fourth. The carnival is in operation multiple days. Fireworks launch after dark on the Fourth. Check the City of Morgan Hill events page for the finalized 2026 schedule.
The parade Runs along Monterey Road through downtown. Floats, marching bands, community groups, classic cars, horse groups, and kids tossing candy from the back of pickups. If you want a good spot, arrive 45 minutes before start time. The shady side of the street fills first.
The carnival Rides, games, funnel cakes, corn dogs, all the classics. It's in a central location near downtown most years. Wristbands for unlimited rides are the deal if you have kids. Lines are shortest right when it opens.
Fireworks This is the main event. The city fires them from a central launch site and most of downtown has a view. Our favorite viewing spot is on the south end of downtown where you can see the sky without fighting for sidewalk space. Bring a blanket and get there by 8:30 PM.
Parking tips - Walk or bike in if you can. Monterey Road gets locked up for the parade. - Park on the east side. The residential streets east of Monterey are easier than downtown. - Leave right at the end, or wait 30 minutes. Mid-exit is the worst time — gridlock.
Dog rules Dogs are generally not recommended at the fireworks — they hate it, and the crowd makes it worse for them. Parade is OK if your dog is crowd-comfortable. Leash required.
Our take Morgan Hill does Fourth of July the way a small town should: with actual community turnout, actual marching bands, and actual pride that doesn't feel performative. Show up.
